Instructions
Project 1A (Week 2)
Brand Research & Presentation
For this first task, we were assigned to do a presentation on an elaboration of Brand, Brand Identity and Branding. We needed to attach proper examples with out descriptions to further illustrate our presentation.
The second part of the presentation was a case study on existing brands and give an in depth research on the brand, its logo, its identity and how they brand or market themselves.
I choose to do research on Shell, which is an internationally known gas fuel company.
Feedback
Week 2
For the beginning part, the examples I used was not supporting my claims, but the case study part was done well.Reflection
Experience
Week 2
The class was went rather well, there were some minor issues with internet connectivity, but that can't be helped. So far my experience with a new lecturer is pretty good, as an industry professional, she was able to provide new info and new perspectives on brand and branding design. My research into Shell helped me realise how important it is to have a successful brand identity that can lest as long as the brand itself. Shell created the shell identity that whenever you think of sea shells, it is easily associated with the brand.
Observation
Week 2
From what i noticed, quite a lot of student chose somewhat interesting brands and I learned new things about the brand from them. It is interesting to see how they approach the brand research and how they view the elaboration part of the presentation. Different perspectives gives new insight.
Findings
Week 2
Creating a brand or brand identity really relies heavily of ingenuity and finding a the perfect colour, logo, or specific design that can easily be associated with the brand. With proper marketing, a brand can create trust, loyalty and persistent memory of the brand in a customer. A brand should also be able to evolve or change with current design trends to stay relevant.

Logotype : (Corporate Identity Book, Branding Reference for Designers and Design Students)by Micheal Evamy
This book collected over 1000 logos from corporate companies to serve as design references. The book elaborated on well designed wordmark logos and other text based logos to serve as a benchmark to creating lasting designs for corporate use. I learned that typeface can play a role in creating a strong identity for the brand and black is mostly used as it carries high association with class ,elegance and strength.
