Week 8I shown my rearranged application items and new items were added and some cafe related items were removed because the focus of the brand should not shift to far from the main attraction. My name card cover and book cover drafts were ok but i should do more design options for the guide book 1st before moving to the cover.
Week 12Abcent from class.
Week 13Ive shown my progress of my brand book as well as the corrections Ms Low pointed out in last weeks PDF draft check. This week she pointed out the problem with rivers and text spacing in my contents of the book. The main problem was the use of justify text. Ms Low explained that justify isn't necessary for small paragraphs of text, it cause more problems because it automatically changes the text spacing and I would need to manually edit it. So i changed all the text to align left.

Lecture 6 - Brand Guidelines / Brand Manual / Brand Style Guide
In this lecture we learned about brand guidelines or more specifically how to design and create a full guideline book that indicates how the design, aesthetics and appearance of anything related to the brand should look like. This includes merchandise, text styles and colour choice. The brand guide shall and will dictate the design direction of the entire brand to be used by future designers of the brand.

Project A
Week 7
In this part of the assignment, we were tasked to create 7 individual applications for our brand.
In this 1st trial I created draft or dummy models to illustrate what items i would design. The lecturer got a different impression from my drafts and advised that simply putting a logo on a product doesn't make it a design. I tried to explain that I was pitching my ideas so she explained that I should fine reference images for the items rather than creating drafts that are not clear.
Week 8
Continuing off where I left last week, I created a presentation to illustrate the items that I would like to create for the Lumbre brand. This included new ideas and additional ideas as suggested by the lecturer.
The slides were updated a few time throughout the weeks as some new changes were added.
Week 9
Progressing from last week, I create a few designs that included the cover and logo colour that was further changed.
The cover design wasn't necessary at this point of the project as the book design hasn't yet been started.
Week 10
Pagination testing for my guide book design.
I tried to create a book layout based on the references below. But ultimately this design was scraped. I opted for a square book design in the coming weeks.
The 1st two image references were the major influence in the book's layout design.
Week 11
In this week I continued to design the application items.
Name Cards
Design 2 for name cards was chosen as the preferred design.
Instax Mini Frame (Instant Films) + Sticker Sheet Set
These instant films were designed for the Fujifilm Instax Mini camera so that Lumbre customers can use them when taking pictures inside Lumbre photo rooms.
Staff Shirt (Changed Later)
Week 12
In this week I started on the new (and final) version of the brand book.
The brand book was sent to lecturer online as I was absent from class. She gave comments on the book and I made the necessary changes.
New Updated Version of the book.
Week 13
The 1st version of the Final Animation was presented. I knew this was not going to be the final version as i had multiple issues with the editing of the animation.
Week 14
All Finals
Final Brand Guide Book.
Final Brand Applications
Final Brand Logo Animation.
Feedback
Week 7
I've shown 6 of my 7 design items for my brand in the session, nothing was really rejected, only that i should not jump into the design phase too quick and find references for the items to show a clearer design style. Also to consider not attaching a simple logo to an item and call it merchandise.
Week 8
Week 9
I added new items into my applications and took Ms Low's advice of adding photo props in my applications. My designs were still lacking and mismatched, so i decided to change most of them at leaat the designs, to better match the aesthetics I wanted for the brand overall.
Week 10
I showed a draft layout of my book, with references that I found online. But it seems the books overall design and feel falls far from the brands goals. I hadn't been able to focus in on the final look of the brand and trying to figure out which design style and look would best fit the brand overall.Week 11
I only had little progress on my work. I got some feedback on my brand animation gif. I was trying to apologize for my lack of progress but Ms Low said I had nothing to apologize for as everyone's work flow is different and i should not feel bad for it but to manage my time better and make sure I'm completing the work for my self benefit.Week 12
Week 13
Reflection
Experience
I thought the creation of the brand guidebook was very informative and interesting to me as a designer. I do feel that not everyone will be able to understand the design style of each brand as each and every person has a unique design style, but creating the book does help. For me as a designer I have never made a full design guide, only sample of designs that could be used, so this was very fun. To focus in on a style and apply the one style across the board to create cohesive and designs that go together perfectly well. In the process I also learned many ways to incorporate design. It is not as static as it seems.
Observation
I noticed that for some student, although having a predetermined style and design for their brands, a few of them deviated a bit when it came to their applications. I felt compelled to share some opinions on it but never did as I'm still a student and not the teacher. I do find that most of them haven't had a lot of experience with branding or designing an entire brand. But from what I saw i could see many of them begin to really grow as designers, as some of their brand ideas really impressed me, but executions of the design need just a bit more practice.
Findings
Something I found was that I knew I really like making motion graphics, and in the process of animating my brand logo I realize how well I could do it, and fast. In the last animation I made, although wasn't from scratch, I changed it enough that it could be considered a new animation all together and I completed it in just 1 hour. It really made me realize how much I could learn in that 1 hour not only about the animation software, but also about my own preferences in design. Throughout the brand making process, I found myself enjoying my brand more and more, wanting to make it a reality. I liked decorating, so with the idea of my brand there's an endless possibility of decorating. This pushed me to want to complete the book and see how far the brand can actually go from the idea.
