Week 2 - Data Collection
Data collection was seen as a crucial part of designing or creating content and understanding users. From online data collection, we can describe, diagnose, predict and prescribe user's behavior and how we can approach it in away that satisfies them.
Week 3 - Web & Social Media Analytics
Web analytics is used to understand specific behavior of users on a website. The data the is derived from analytics helps the analyser to understand what is received positively and what is not. It can provide information about web traffic from where the user came from to where they left the website, or how long they would spend on a website. All this can help in building a better site or user experience that is more engaging to users.
Project Brief
We received our Project Brief from the Taylor's team in which we were tasked to help improve their youtube channel in terms of increasing views, subscribers and traffic between the channel and official website.
Week 4 - Personas
Personas play an important role as a way for designers to put themselves into the shoes of a user. Understanding their likes, dislikes or positive points and pain points, help to determine what can be produced or created to satisfy these personas.
Week 9 - 4Cs
The 4Cs are a way of positioning one self in different perspectives and angles to understand where we stand and how we can improve, change or modify.
Submissions
Assignment 1 - Website Analytics
Syaqiel and I grouped together for the assignments of the class. When we were creating the presentation, we took into consideration heavily the user themselves and what their motivations are. We tried to highlight user behavior based on specific events of a timeline for example, school holidays, result announcements or pandemics in recent cases.
Assignment 2 - Personas
When we were building our personas, we took our own experience as taylor's students into consideration. We thought about how our parents felt, how we felt and how other people felt at the time and built 4 personas based on that. We concluded that for us, College Grads, Foreign Students, Current Students and Parents of Students were the most important in making decision regarding taylor's. We were the only group that really wanted to highlight the parent's perspective as they are the ones who would entrust the school with their children's futures.
Assignment 3 - 4Cs
For the most part, the introduction of our presentation was the same as every other group. However, in referencing competitors, we were the only group that considered MSU as a threat to Taylor's based on the world ranking chart. We took into consideration how we can differentiate Taylor's as a strong hold in the education industry while still being able to maintain a positive image.
Final Assignment - Pitch Deck and Design Application
For the final pitch, we read thoroughly the brief and understood the main focus of the entire project which was the growth of the Youtube Channel. In our case, the Taylor's team noticed how we were very different in approach compared to all the groups in class. Where we really highlight the possible growth of Taylor's Youtube Channel and the involvement of students to create a more sincere content playlist that appeals to most people. In addition, we took into account growing platforms that have high potential such as TikTok and Taylor's team agreed that that was a good idea. Overall they like our presentation and agreed that it is in line with their 2021 plans for their Youtube Channel.
