Reflections
Experience
As a whole, this module was interesting. It really opened a new door about branding to me and how my personality and preferences can translate into a brand of my own ideas and creation. I would say Ms Low, the lecturer although new to me as I've never met her before this module, was very helpful and understanding to say the least. I like that she was able always show us real world and current examples of brands. She showed us interesting international brands that some I've never heard of but found very helpful in the creation of Lumbre.
For me, I found that working from home was not as amazing of an idea as it sounded. I was quite distracted most of the time by chores or things that i had to do at home. This made me loose track of time quite often and slowed me down a lot in the progression of my work. But all in all, an enjoyable module and I hope the next time we would not be stuck at home and be able to print or fabricate out projects.
Observation
I enjoyed seeing other students brands and ideas as it was a strong reflection of all their personalities. Although I've only known most of them for less than a year, I knew then enough to see how they put their interests into brands. The work that they created was something fun and some out of the ordinary. It really felt like a real university experience that was able to bring to life new and interesting ideas.
Findings
From my own experience, analysing brands really showed me the amount of details that go into brand identities. Little details in logo or design use translate a subliminal message about the brand that many don't notice until it is pointed out. I made my brand with this idea in mind. The 2 gradients representing the 2 floors of Lumbre. I also found a new passion for motion graphics. I realized how well I could make them and how enjoyable it is to make them.
Additionally, I found that my ideas for brands weren't as limited as I thought. Throughout the module, I thought a lot about new ideas for brands and how I can make them real. The class gave me a new creative outlet for ideas.
